Saying goodbye is never easy to do. Whether you’re saying goodbye to someone after spending a few days together or saying goodbye to someone who is being called to a different mission field after years of laboring in the gospel together or saying goodbye to your college age children or saying goodbye to your dying relative; saying goodbye is never easy.

I’ve often said that a person’s reputation is the story of their character. The outward behavior of a person’s life says a lot about the inner workings of what has shaped a person’s heart and mind.

Contentment and confidence are rare commodities these days. Contentment can oftentimes be nothing more than passivity dressed up in the expensive clothing of religious language and the cheap lipstick of cultural philosophy. Confidence on the other hand, can oftentimes be nothing more than reckless hype and emotional response.

Never in my lifetime have I experienced the polarization, division, anger, mischaracterization, slander and spirit of all-out war quite like I have in 2020.

When I first began studying this text, last week, I had to chuckle a little. I chuckled a little because I could feel the unique provision of the Lord…

If you know me well then you know that I am wired to see life like a war; like life is constantly coming at me or like life is a mountain to be taken during wartime.

What are you chasing? What kind of race are you running right now? We oftentimes refer to life as a rat-race, as though we are racing against other rats in a maze full of twists and turns.

What do you want? What do you long for the most? What captures the attention of your heart and mind? In my observation, people will go to great lengths to get what they want.

Anything you can do I can do better. These words from a popular song sum up the rat race we call life very well. From the moment we are born to the day we die we are thrust into a race against time with death for a finish line. We feel the pressure of death all around us; it motivates us to work harder, to accomplish more, to achieve success.

What has been stealing your joy? Joy, is a precious commodity that sometimes seems like a rare treasure.
