Who do you think of when you think of a godly man? Godly men are hard to find; this is no secret. We live in a world that idolizes immature men who like to pretend to be men. I like to call these pretend men little boys with mustaches who play games and use women and their friends to medicate their insecurities and their pain.

Faithful men and women are hard to find. Godly character is in short supply. We live in a celebrity culture that idolizes the lifestyles of the rich and famous.

What does it take to get under your skin? What lights your fuse? What sets you off? What makes you complain? What is it that causes you to jump into a fruitless argument? As Christians we are called to “let our manner of life – as citizens of Heaven – be worthy of the gospel” (Phil. 1:27).

Self-centeredness and pride are nasty little sin-infections that can be almost invisible in our lives.

Someone has said that humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less. The opposite of humility is thinking more about yourself.

Last Sunday I asked this question: “What will the history books say about Christians in America in the next ten years?” I believe this is an important question to ask because it gets after the manner of life we lead or the lifestyles we live.

As I sat down to write this, my heart was heavy with anger, confusion, fear and shame. I didn’t really know where to begin but I knew that I must begin because the preaching of the Gospel must not stop.

Fear is a powerful emotion that can suck the joy and the beauty out of this life. There are many things that can cause us to live in fear.

Restrictions and limitations are a fact of life. I am limited because I am a human and therefore, I live with certain areas of weakness that restrict me from enjoying certain freedoms.

Circumstances have a very funny way of bringing out the worst within us.
