Sometimes the Holy Spirit gets a bad rap or he becomes like the forgotten person in the Trinitarian Godhead.

But the Holy Spirit is described all over the Scriptures as our comforter, our counselor, our advocate and our helper. The Spirit is the person of the Godhead who speaks truth to us, convicts us of sin, assures us of salvation, empowers us to live faithfully and comforts us in our afflictions. And this short description is just the tip of the iceberg!!

There’s so much more to the Holy Spirit and Jesus says that our Father in Heaven is just waiting to give the Spirit to his children who ask for him.

Spend some time praying in light of what God’s Word teaches us:

  1. Do you need comfort? Ask the Father to comfort you with his Spirit.
  2. Are you searching for the truth of a matter? Ask the Father to speak the truth to you through his Spirit.
  3. Have you felt helpless lately? Ask the Father to fill you with his Spirit and help you in your time of need.
  4.  Are you feeling particularly weak in some areas? Ask the Father to empower with his Spirit.
