Unbelief in God’s character leads to unbelief in my identity, which leads to ungodly desires inside of me, which leads to ungodly behaviors outside me.

You and I do not experience true change because we do not ask for the right things and when we do ask for something we ask for things to quench our sinful desires.

What sinful behavior have you struggled with recently? What did you want when you struggled with that sin? What did you believe about yourself when you struggled with that sin? What did you believe about God when you struggled with that sin? What does the Bible about God in light of your struggle? What does God say about you? What new desire does God want to produce in you? What new behavior does God want to produce in you?

Spend some time praying in light of your answers:

1: Ask the Lord to hear your confession and change your heart.

2: Confess your sinful behavior to the Lord and ask him to forgive you and change your behavior.

3: Confess your sinful desires (what you wanted) and ask him to change your desires and help you to want what he wants.

4: Tell the Lord what you believed about yourself and ask him to help you believe what he says is true about you.

5: Tell the Lord what you struggled to believe about him and ask him to help you to trust in who his Word says he is.

6: Ask the Lord to produce this same pattern of prayer in you and others around you daily from this point forward.
